March — Season opens
First supercells usually fire in mid-to-late March. Early storms are often small hail (pea to dime), but isolated severe cells can hit anywhere in the metro.
April — Peak month
April is statistically the worst hail month in DFW. Multiple severe weather days are common. Insurance claim volume spikes.
May — Continued risk
Severe cells continue through May. Often the largest individual storms (baseball+) hit in late April to mid-May.
June — Tapering
Storm frequency drops as the summer ridge sets up, but isolated supercells still occur.
July–September — Quiet
Hail is rare; this is the catch-up window for repair shops.
October–November — Secondary peak
A smaller fall severe season can produce damaging hail across North Texas.
December–February — Off-season
Hail is essentially zero. Best time for non-emergency PDR work and pre-season vehicle prep.
